Herschel Walker on NBC5 Today – Send Us Your Questions
April 19, 2008 at 7:39 am | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentTags: Herschel Walker Live on NBC5 Today
Heisman trophy winner, and former Dallas Cowboy Herschel Walker joins us live in the studio next Saturday at 9am. He’s touring the country promoting his new book, “Breaking Free” which reveals his struggle with multiple personality disorder (now known as dissociative identity disorder).
Send us your questions for Walker and we’ll do our best to have him answer as many as we can. In addition to talking about the book and the challenges he kept quiet for so long, we’ll have some time to talk about football too. I’ve read that he does 15-hundred pushups a day, so I’ve got to ask him about that!!

I’m co-founder of SEASCAT, a Supportive Environment for Adult Survivors of Child Abuse & Trauma. It was inspired by my friend Andy who has (DID) dissociative identity disorder. The very struggle to just keep a roof over our heads moved us create this non-profit. When basic needs of food and shelter are lacking, you can’t begin to think about working through the difficulty of therapy.
We’re at the point now where we’re actively seeking board members. Eventually, we hope to have a motel as a residence and a therapist on staff. All residents will have the diagnosis of PTSD or DID and be actively working towards recovery. It’s taken us 15 years to get this far, and Andy is still struggling.
We could sure use the backing of a celebrity to help us get going. We’d like to congratulate Mr. Walker on finding the help and being willing and open to talking about it. Most dissociative disorders find it about impossible to find help, most struggle to make from day to day.
