Airlines Nickel and Dime Customers

Today American announced a $25 charge for checking a second bag. Add that to the cost of the greens fees on your next golf vacation. They’re not the first to do it – and won’t be the last.
With sky high fuel prices we may need to start travelling with a roll of money in hand to pay for all the extras airlines will charge for. Want to talk to a real person at reservations? Want a snack on board? There’s no doubt more airlines are looking at charging for those things – like the now defunct Skybus airline did before they went belly up this spring.
In its announcement today American says it won’t charge Gold level AA-Advantage members and above. And, they won’t charge people who buy full-fare or First or Business Class tickets. Also, if you’re taking your golf clubs to Europe you’re okay for the moment. No extra charge…..yet.
